I work and workout at Catalyst Fitness which is a locally-owned exercise facility in Fort Wayne, Indiana USA.  As the Member Liaison one of the things I do is equipment maintenance.  We have hundreds of pieces of exercise equipment and all have fasteners which hold them together.  Over time and heavy use, some of the bolts, bolts and screws become loose and some fall out and possibly get lost.   Worse, it can get dangerous when an attachment falls off or slips on a member.

Our owner, Jason, asked me to go through every piece of equipment and inspect and tighten all our equipment.  Last month I started with the Circuit room with mostly Life Fitness and Hammer Strength machines.  The first one I checked I discovered loose bolts holding  the heavy weight stack to the cable which the person lifts.  If this had come loose it and fallen out, who knows what could have happened.

I still repair other equipment as needed when I discover a problem and when a member tells me or the front desk, but I try and do one preventative Maintenance machine a day.  I’ve been joking with the members that I’ll be done with the machines when I’m 90!
