The main Cable machine in our Northeast gym is made by the LifeFitness company.  One of the stations is the bench row and is a popular back exercise.  Like all the stations, a stranded wire cable travels over two pulleys from the handle in your hands to the weight stack.  These plastic pulleys wear out over time and need replaced eventually.  This happened last July and I received a mail message that the station was out of order.

I checked out the station the next day and found the cable split the pulley.  The cable was stuck down the middle of pulley which had worn through.

The maintenance room holds our tools and parts so I went there to look for a pulley.  One was found although a little smaller in diameter.  the broken one was removed and the new one took its place.  The cable fit in the pulley groove and I tested the rowing exercise and it went smooth.  The old part was tossed and it worked as expected.
