Part of my responsibility at Catalyst Fitness is protecting the equipment so it doesn’t get damaged from member abuse.  When I make my rounds throughout the building one of the things I look at is how the power-lifting  platforms are used.   They are made of wood and can be marred and splintered if the wrong weight plates come in contact with them.

We have two power-lifting platforms at Catalyst.  One is in the far end of the main weight room and the other is in the back weight room.  Adjacent to both platforms are rubber weight plates which should be used instead of the metal plates.  Last week I came across someone who was using metal plates on the platform.  I asked him to change to the rubber plates to protect the wood.

Hopefully this week he’ll be using rubber ones when he uses the platforms!
