My original Jiu-Jitsu pants are about 4 years-old and they are getting worn in some areas of the legs. The knees on all of my Jiu-Jitsu pants get alot of action either directly on the mat or holding my opponent away. This set has extra knee padding and a year into it’s life a hole on the right side developed. A few years ago my sister put extra heavy material over the knees and it’s been fine since.
This newest tear happened above the knee and I am afraid it may get caught on a hand or foot doing a roll. Last weekend I got out my sewing kit and started to mend it. Jiu-Jitsu pants are thicker material than stand-up(Karate) uniforms. So it’s harder to get the needle through them so I use a thimble to push the needle through. During the sewing session, I sewed the back of the pants to the front and I had to pull out the thread and needle and wind it back through the pants. The repair seems good but the real test is the next time I roll with the crew at Basches.
